About Meghan

Meghan Callaghan is a board-certified music therapist dedicated to restoring music to its rightful role in our daily lives — as a source of connection, comfort, creativity and greater well-being. She specializes in providing engaging, evidence-based music therapy for elders, people living with dementia, hospice and palliative care patients, and adults with disabilities.

As the founder of Mountain Health Music LLC, Meghan has shared music with people across the lifespan, from newborns to those at life’s thresholds. She draws on her voice, percussion, guitar, harp, and piano to create interactive music experiences in both healthcare and community settings.

In addition to her clinical work, Meghan leads and co-creates vibrant community singing gatherings. She co-founded SongHearth, now a monthly multi-generational community singing circle held during Flagstaff’s First Friday ArtWalk, and she leads Shirei Shabbat, a welcoming Friday evening gathering of Jewish song in partnership with Congregation Lev Shalom. Meghan founded and directed the Flagstaff Threshold Choir from 2011-2022, a women’s choir that offers gentle songs at the bedsides of those who are ill or nearing the end of life.

Meghan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Florida State University and has been influenced by her study with renowned teaching artists including Bobby McFerrin and Voicestra, Kate Munger, Melanie DeMore, Becky Reardon, and Música do Círculo. As a freemotion dancer and permaculture enthusiast, Meghan enjoys weaving music, movement, nature, and community into daily life.
